International Registration available.  Rate exchange will be done from USD

**International Participants will receive a certificate emailed to to them of their placement.  If an international participant wants to receive a medal if they win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place they will need to pay for international shipping for medals to be shipped to them.  Shipping costs are not included with registration.  Shipping costs will be in US currency for cost from US to country of winner.

Rules & Instructions

This is a Virtual Tournament for any Karate/ Martial Arts School that is interested.  We look forward to providing this virtual tournament to our students and may more for the area.

 

This tournament gives our students something to do that is exciting and be able to compete with other members of Karate we are so used to seeing.  Just something fun to do!

 

Virtual Tournament Rules & Instruction

  1. Who can participate?  Any Martial Arts School that has an interest in participating with competition with other martial artists.
  2. What events will be available?  Kata (forms, Traditional Forms) & Kobudo (weapons Traditional Weapons Kata), Synchronized, Entertainment (with music, Flashy weapons, made up forms, skits etc)
  3. What are the divisions & categories? The divisions are as follows and will be further divided by experience level ( ie: beginner, intermediate, advanced & black belts).  Divisions will be created based on age and experience pending # of entries received.

    • Note: (Intermediate & Advanced divisions may have different age combinations and age groups may be combined depending on entries received.)

  4. What will be given to athlete that wins their division?  Athlete will get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place metals mailed or delivered to their home Dojo/School. 

  5. How much is the Registration Fee?  Registration Due November 20th: $20 each person for 1 event, Addional event $5 each.  Please reference payment screen and Facebook event for up to date fees and or specials.

  6. What will the Registration Fee go towards?  The fee goes towards helping pay for medals, the programs used for judges to come together to view video's & postage for mailing prizes to winners.

  7. How do I register?  Please register via the link below by filling out information and uploading your video’s.

  8. How many videos do I need to submit?  Please submit 2 video’s for the event you are registering for. Only 1 entry per athlete.

  9. Why do I need 2 video’s? The division will be judged by point given by judges.  1st video will go through 1st round.  Video 2 will be used for tie's.  You may do the same kata if you are brown belt or under.  Black Belts please do a different kata.

  10. How will my video be scored?  Your video will be judged as if at a tournament on a points basis.  Judges will view video’s individually and will then give a score for that competitor.  There will be 5 judges per division.  The high and the low score will be removed to determine a competitor’s final score. If there is a tie the low score will be added first then the high.  If after those scores are added and there is still a tie, the competitors 2nd video will be used to be scored to resolve tie and winner for placement

  11. How do I submit the videos?   Please submit the videos by uploading your video to YouTube and sending the shared link to us.  Send shared video links to tvskaratevirtualtourney@hotmail.com.  (Further information on how to do this is available upon request)

  12. What do I wear?  Participants must wear their appropriate uniforms and belt ranking that they received at their school.

  13. Participant eligibility. This is open to all ages and ranks.  A participant under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent, guardian, or adult prior to entering the contest.

  14. Recording your kata video for submission.  Your kata can be recorded and uploaded from anywhere, like the following:

    1. At your home, backyard, local park or dojo (if available).  The area must be free of obstruction of obstacles and be able to showcase your kata without adjustments made to the kata.  Kata must be done in a safe area.  Be aware of the background of the video.  It must be appropriate (posters, pictures, signs, etc.) should be taken into consideration when videoing your kata.

    2. When recording your kata you should start at the top as if entering a ring and bow before entering, then bow again before beginning your kata.

    3. **IMPORTANT - Video's submitted need to have Competator's Full Name (listed as first name last name) & Dojo Name (listed as initals, ie: Treasure Valley School of Karate = TVSK).   Should look like: Kata 1, George Smith, TVSK.   If this is not done then video's will not be valid. 

  15. What is the registration deadline?  

    All Video’s must be submitted by November 20th 6pm MST, 5pm Pacific Time please watch the tournament Facebook page for any current or updated information.

  16. What happens next?  Videos submitted will be judged and staged to be judged by various black belt instructors who have volunteered from across the northwest.  We will post an announcement of who the winners are.

*After tournament judging has been completed and scores have been posted the video submitted will be made available for others to view on our private Facebook group for each division’s 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners.
